Savanna City Residents and surrounding areas urged to use alternative routes due to ongoing riots in Diepkloof

The N1 Highway next to the Diepkloof interchange as well as the N12 in Diepkloof, Soweto, have been barricaded off to traffic due to protest action. Motorists have been urged to make use of alternative routes.   In response to ongoing protest action, barricades have been placed on the N1 Highway adjacent to the Diepkloof interchange, as well as on the N12 in Diepkloof, Soweto. This development has effectively blocked off these routes to traffic. It is important to note that residents of Savanna City, in particular, are advised to seek alternative routes until further notice. Motorists are strongly encouraged to explore alternative pathways to reach their destinations. Diepkloof hostel residents are demanding electricity, water and sanitation. JMPD Spokesperson, Xolani Fihla, outlines other roads that have been affected. “Also expect traffic disruptions on Chris Hani Road which is barricaded off to traffic with burning tyres and rocks, between Condor Road and the N12 exist in Diepkloof.
