Lifeless Infant Found In Skip Bin At P4 Was An Awakening Call

Not so long, Savanna City residents woke up to the gruesome news of a lifeless body of an infant found dumped in a Skip Bin near pocket 4. The news alarmed the community and sent shockwaves across the pockets.

''It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic story of an infant that was recently found dead in a skip bin in Savanna City pocket 4. The baby, believed to be only a few days old, was discovered by residents who were horrified by the senseless act of violence'' said an anonymous community member.

This heart-wrenching incident highlights the ongoing problem of infant abandonment in our community. It is a cruel reality that many infants are abandoned every year, often in dangerous and life-threatening situations. The tragic fate of this innocent child reminds us of the urgent need for better education and support for parents who find themselves in difficult circumstances.

The discovery of the body was made by a collector of plastic bottles for recycling purposes. Ward councillor, Lillian Kolisang, says upon her arrival, she called the relevant authorities to assist in the matter. When members of the Emergency Services (EMS) arrived, they confirmed the body inside the black plastic bag was of a newborn baby boy, and the umbilical cord was still attached.

“What has been done to the newborn is inhumane, it is unclear how long the body has been there and during the day we had to wait for hours for the EMS, police, and Forensics while the body was still in the bin,” she added.

The body was found on Monday 18 April 2023. It is suspected that the person who left the newborn in the bin is someone from Savanna City, the Bonded pocket 4 side.

“The police were informed about this suspicion as a trail of blood drops were seen by some resident members at parts of Bonded pocket 5 and 6 side,” says Kolisang.

In the wake of this tragedy, it is important that we come together as a community to support one another and work towards a brighter future. We must stand together against the senseless violence and tragedy that plagues our neighborhoods and work tirelessly to ensure that every child has the chance to grow and thrive in a safe and loving environment.
